1920’s Flapper Dress Restored by Jan’s Restoration & Dry Cleaning
The Road To Restoration
We have had the pleasure of working closely with Jan’s Restoration and Dry Cleaning in Clio, MI. We commissioned Jan and her team to clean, reinforce and update this amazing 1920’s green and pink beaded dress…
This beautiful 1920's flapper dress caught my eye back in 2016 when I saw it for sale through Guermantes Vintage. At that time I was really starting to grow my costume collection. Guermantes Vintage has some of the best one of a kind pieces found all over the world. After seeing the green and pink beaded beauty, I knew I had to have it. Around the same time I read an article about an old vintage piece that was restored and resurrected by Jan's Restoration and Dry Cleaning in Clio, MI.
Jan along with Caroline, the head seamstress have passion for these historical pieces like no other, which led me to appoint them as our main go to restoration and cleaning business. Over the years Jan and her team have handled some of my favorite pieces, giving them new life and the ability to be shown on stage.
They reinforced the chiffon, hand beaded all missing strands and re-constructed the dress with ties on the side so it can be taken on and off. Caroline, in total she spent 20 hours on hand beading and reinforcing this 1920’s flapper dress.
